The Car Companies... Are They Just Trying To Fail?
It seems that no matter what we do for the big American car companies, they just can't get it into their heads that AMERICANS HATE THEM. They take our cash and gas, hurt our environment, hurt our economy, and occupy our time.
President Bush has bailed the companies out, but has only done enough to keep them going until March. He obviously didn't want his legacy to get any worse, so he thought he would leave the car companies to President-elect Obama. Mr. Bush has given Chrysler and GM $13.4 billion worth of emergency loans, and another $4 billion is soon to come (in February). Because Ford is in slightly better condition than the others, Ford won't get any bailout loans.
Personally, I think this bailout is only going to hurt us. We put billions in, but the companies will go under either way. At this point, we are only giving them a crutch to limp on... which might work... until it shatters into 17.4 billion peices and ruins thousands of people's lives.
Obviously, the car companies have been unwilling to change their management style in the past... and why start now? Ford has been dangling new models just above our reach for a while, and so have GM and Chrysler. They have plans to change... but they are like lazy teenagers... they procrastinate and procrastinate until their mothers (or in this case the American consumer and federal government) kick them in to gear... by which time it's too late.
A tip to Ford, GM, and Chrysler: maybe people would buy cars from you if you would just change. Get new models, make your old ones fuel efficient, or change your management... or all of the above... but you need to change before Americans will start helping you out.
P.S. If you wonder why Americans don't buy your cars... why would they? They could just go buy a cheap, fuel-efficient Honda.
